Bringing the Kids Together With Playdoh – WFMW

(You caught me! I forgot that today was a themed works for me wednesday, about our favorite online stores. Don’t worry, I made up for it…)

Some moms don’t like Playdoh. Some dread the gift of Playdoh and imagine all the carpet cleaning they’ll have to do after their toddler stomps little tiny pieces deep into the carpet fibers. Some tolerate Playdoh in a love-hate relationship. I get it. I’ve been there.

Princess had Playdoh at 3 and she did pretty good with it. But we really didn’t do Playdoh anymore when Drama Queen came along. Princess was calm. Drama Queen was a firecracker. It seemed insane to want to give such a rambunctious child who couldn’t sit still for more than a minute something so messy. But as I searched for ways to entertain and interact with Little Prince while the girls do their school work, I began to consider Playdoh once again.

Initially I intended on making my own as a school project. But while Christmas shopping I decided to just go ahead and buy a couple of 4-packs for Little Prince.

I am SO glad I did.

All of my children will pile around the dining table with the Playdoh and a big bag of shape cutters and molds and rolling pins. They will share (sharing is good!) and laugh together (as in, not fighting!) and help each other (yes, yes!) and have a great time TO-GE-THER for the longest time.

All because of Playdoh. Who knew?

Playdoh is no longer the enemy. Playdoh is a friend. I want more.

And when this Playdoh runs out (because you mysteriously lose little crumbs and pieces here and there as you play), well, THEN we’ll have a science experiment and make some more to replace it. 🙂

Oh, and since the theme of this WFMW is our favorite online stores, I guess I should mention that you can find Playdoh at my 2nd and 3rd favorite online stores, Amazon and Target.com, but you can’t however find it at my 1st favorite online store, Christianbook.com. I know those aren’t all that original.. but I don’t have any original online sources, I like to stick to the tried and true. 🙂

Works For Me Wednesday is hosted by Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer. Thanks, Shannon!

We love playdough. I got a huge tub of it over christmas from Costco. It had all the cutters and things in the tub. I use it for my firstgraders when they get bored and restless.

Fun! We got some playdough for our three year old for Christmas and he has been “cooking” up a storm with it! He loves it. I will say, however, that the other day I saw a bunch of yuck in the bottom of his shoes. I don’t EVEN want to know where the rest of that container of playdough is!

Isaac loves Playdough and he actually got some for Christmas from Grandparents and loves it. His brothers play with him sometimes but it mainly is him. One time we found a great deal on a bucket of cutters, etc. and it was 50 cents so had to get it. We also have the farm set and one that is an island with different things to do. We let him do it alot when his brothers are doing schoolwork. We have only tried to make it once and it wasn’t good but I would like to try it again… I also… Read more »
