Thursday is almost gone, the sun has set. Friday shall soon be upon us. Friday’s don’t usually hold a lot of excitement for us. However, this Friday is the rehearsal for the dance recital so the girls are quite excited. Don’t most little girls like to get all dressed up and made up pretty? Mine do. I don’t blame them. As a young girl I used to stare in awe and envy at the ballerinas on the tv. I’m so glad that my little girls get to participate in dance. Princess is especially attached to it. Right now she wants to grow up to be a ballerina. Big Daddy wants her to be a doctor. I tease her and tell her that perhaps she can be a dancing doctor. 😉

I’m still very excited about my new tomato plants. I know, I know. Enough about tomato plants. 🙂 But I’m just so surprised that they are growing so fast. I have had houseplants before, but never any fruits or vegetables. The tomatoes have been growing so fast with all the rain and since the transplant into the bigger pots. All this thinking about gardening got me to thinking about a weird perception some people have about it. I find it an interesting observation that I used to have (still do to some extent) this awe for gardeners & farmers as if they were performing some impossible task. Not to be misunderstood, I still respect gardeners & farmers quite a bit, it takes a lot of work and I admire the hard work and dedication. However, I used to think: “Wow, I could never do that.” And now that I am starting to grow things myself I am thinking: “I’m not doing anything!” I know that as I get more things it will take more work, but still… I’m not actually doing anything, it grows by itself. God makes it grow. I just keep checking it for water and then I get to sit and stare at the little green tomatoes for a while and smile a lot. Another funny thing to me is how growing things used to be such a norm and now has gotten to a point where its a talent or a hobby and how more people are trying to get back to the natural way of doing things. Maybe that’s not how it is, but just how it seems to me because of my own personal journey. True or false?

I promised some new changes around here soon. Here’s phase 1: I’m going to start blogging about home school here, too, and do away with my blogspot blog. I haven’t really blogged about school much lately, and I haven’t really had much to blog about lately anyway. The initial reasons why I kept it separate don’t really apply anymore, and it would just be simpler to do away with it and just have this one. I haven’t decided if I will a.) leave that just like it is with a note to go here and just start blogging about school here from now on, b.) try to figure out if there is a way to move those past posts over here and start blogging here from now on, or c.) just delete that one and start blogging here from now on. I’m looking for input.

To kick things off, though, two of my links today are great school links.

  • Check out this awesome website, Internet 4 Classrooms. If you click on “Links for K-12 Teachers” or “Assessment Assistance” you will be able to find tons, literally TONS, of pages, printables, websites and games for each grade level. Today Princess spent an hour or so online working on 1st grade math – mostly money math. She had fun, too!
  • And for Drama Queen, I found this really awesome website that among other things, will really help us work on the alphabet. First-School has tons of printables, activities, and crafts for each letter of the alphabet, which is really cool.
  • Looking for meal ideas? Okay, yes, I’m An Organizing Junkie is definitely a great place. Momma Nut also gave me this great tip: Yahoo! Food puts up a new menu with recipes each week. Hm. How about that? 🙂
  • How To Avoid Work At Home Scams is a neat little blog with things that don’t work – and a few things that do. Wouldn’t want to get caught up in any scams, now, would we? Of course, we’re taking THEIR word for it… still might wanna check things out for ourselves, don’t you think?
  • My friend at Boasting in My Weakness has a special announcement. :0) Hop on over and tell her congratulations!!
  • I really love this idea by Beth at I Should Be Folding Laundry – you can bet I’ll be adding to my gardening list! I do love lavender!

Here’s our church’s memory verse for this week:

In this is love, not that we have loved God

but that he loved us and sent his Son

to be the propitiation for our sins.

1 John 4:10 (ESV)

Hey, y’all! I’m Amber and I wear many hats. I drink a ton of coffee and I’m constantly sweeping crumbs off the floor. After 20+ years of homeschooling, we are starting over at preschool with our fourth, Lil Miss Mouse. She keeps us young and she’s the main reason for my excessive coffee consumption. Drink up!
