It’s not too early to start thinking about Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.. in fact, Operation Christmas Child is already starting to promote the free resources and National Collection Week is only 3 months away!
Last week I challenged you to join the Samaritan’s Purse Bloggers in a “Ten Dollar Challenge.” While out and about shopping the back to school sales, we committed to spending ten dollars (and seeing how far we could stretch that!) to pick up some things for our shoeboxes, and we asked if you would join us. Did you do it? Yay!
Don’t worry, if you haven’t shopped yet but you would like to, it’s not too late! Now is a great time to shop those school supply clearance sales.
We’re not planning on packing full boxes at this point, we just want to get people to start thinking about their shoeboxes this year. Grab some school supplies now. Get some boxes started. Will you do it?
My $10 Challenge:
I grabbed up some school supplies while I was out shopping a couple of weeks ago. We always pack at least three boxes, so I was spending $10 for three but I still think I did really good at maximizing those pennies!
I picked up:
- 3 small spiral notebook
- 3 packages of colored pencils
- 3 pencil sharpeners
- 3 packages of crayons
- 12 pack of pencils to be divided between the boxes
Later we’ll add things like socks and tooth brushes, hair ties and small toys, bracelets and bouncy balls. For more ideas of things to add to the shoeboxes you can look here: 100 Shoebox Ideas for Boys, and 100 Shoebox Ideas for Girls.
