How much do I like books?
You should know that answer by now…have you seen our bookshelves? 😉
And that’s not even all the books that we own, only the ones that belong in the school area. As I said, we like books.
So, naturally, a Mommy Time Party about fun things for homeschoolers and back to school stuff is going to include some books right?
We have several favorite series and publishers, but today I’d like to introduce you to Usborne Books–and my friend and Usborne consultant, Jeni. Jeni’s going to be giving away a book and a gift certificate at the end of this – won’t that be fun?
My Usborne Library
We have a large handful of Usborne books already — at last count I think I have at least thirteen. Here’s some of them:
About half of these are reference type books. Usborne has great reference books. The atlas is internet-linked and the pictures inside are just amazing. The sticker atlas is just fun and that’s all there is to it. And that green one is like a cross between an “I Spy” book and an animal encyclopedia – it was one of my son’s favorite books to look through when he was in preschool. Each page spread depicts a different habitat, with pictures of indigenous animals around the edges, a snippet of information about each, and the number of how many are to be found in the illustration. So much fun.
The little ones are actually leveled readers, mostly level two, that we picked up when we were studying astronomy a few years ago. I knew the kids would enjoy looking through them because the pictures are always so amazing, but I also knew that my then beginning-reader-middle-child would enjoy reading them to us during school – which she did. The Usborne books always please.
Usborne doesn’t only have educational books, though, they have a good selection of other literature, too. I picked up this title for my daughter at the Nashville Teach Them Diligently convention in the Usborne booth–which was promptly “devoured” on the drive home from Tennessee–and now she wants me to get her the rest of the series. I enjoy finding books that make my kids want to read.
So you see, there’s a huge range of books and literature available from Usborne.
More About Usborne Books
How did it begin? Usborne books was started over 30 years ago by Peter Usborne, and today has over 2000 titles to choose from. The books are sturdy, always wonderfully illustrated, entertaining, and kid-approved. They carry fiction, activity books, history and science books, board books, early reader books and some really great art books, too. Speaking of Art books, another Usborne book I forgot to take a picture of is “The Usborne Book of Drawing, Doodling and Coloring.” We love this book! (There’s a preview on Amazon for that one, too!)
Two Ways to Party With Usborne Books
Would you like to win some Usborne books? My consultant friend, Jeni, will be giving away one book for the Mommy Time Party tonight. The book that she’ll be giving away is “See Inside Ancient Egypt.” It’s colorful and engaging with lots of little flaps to lift. Fun! Believe it or not, See Inside Ancient Egypt is available through Amazon with a “see inside” preview! Go flip through that preview and see how neat it is. These are the kids of books my son likes best – colorful illustrations loaded with facts and tidbits all over the page. He eats it up.
The giveaway will go live at 8pm Eastern and be open for one week. To enter the giveaway, use the widget below:
But, that’s not the only way you can win Usborne books today!
Win Through My Online Party
I’m hosting an online e-party with my consultant from now through the 15th! How does that help you win books? My consultant, in the party mood, is going to be drawing one random winner from all of the orders placed in my online party to win a $25 credit! And yes, you can enter both giveaways. So if you already know you want to pick up some more books for the new school year, you can take advantage of this giveaway. If not, you can enter the giveaway for the Ancient Egypt book. Two ways to win!
I’ll see you at the party and in the mean time, you can find my Usborne consultant on Facebook and on her website. To shop my party, go to her website, click on “SHOP” and then click on “Amber Oliver.”
**Disclaimer: I received no compensation for the review or giveaway, but of course as hostess, I will receive hostess credits for orders placed with my online book party. My consultant was kind enough to donate the book and gift certificate for the Mommy Time Party, and I’m hosting a party and writing a review of the Usborne books in exchange. For more information, check out my Disclosure Policy and Review Policy.**
