Lest you think homeschooling is all sunshine and roses, let me assure you…. it is not.
Oh, there’s plenty of sunshine. And roses. Or in our case, dandelions. Especially in the spring time when the windows and doors are open and recess is an hour and a half long.
But sometimes it’s more like thunderclouds and hail storms. I’m just keeping it real.
That said, TODAY DID NOT GO WELL.
Still. I learned a few things.
1.) No matter how many cups of coffee you drink, it doesn’t make things better. But it sure does taste good.
2.) 4 year olds have no concept of “wait until Momma is through helping sister.”
3.) Still.. 4 year olds won’t die if they learn how to say, “Excuse me.” so perhaps we should begin working on that.
4.) 7 year olds would probably benefit from having a book to read while waiting for Momma to finish helping sister or brother.
5.) 9 year olds should move on to the next assignment and come back if Momma is in the middle of a reading lesson with the 7 year old or a tantrum with the 4 year old.
6.) 4 year olds who want to participate in the workbox system should probably be able to pick and choose what number they want to work on even though it’s not in order and drives Momma nuts.
7.) Praying at the beginning of school may not be enough. Maybe in the middle. And an hour later. And pretty much anytime things start going south.
Here’s to a better tomorrow!!

Hope today is going better!! Sorry it was a rough day… but appreciate the transparency! 🙂
Glad to know other people have a not so good day. I can always find blogs/info on the seems like perfect homeschooling families, but mine just never seemed quite as good. I do hope you had a better day today.
Ha! PERFECT homeschool family we are not! =) Thanks for your encouragement, ladies. Tuesday DID go a LITTLE better. And Wednesday even a little better. We’re constantly making adjustments as kids grow and we’re just in the middle of one of those right now. The 4yo is only interested in doing school for so long, but the 7yo and 10 yr old both have a full day of work now. Even though the 7yo doesn’t have as much as the 10yo she is working much longer than she used to so the 4 yr old has to wait for her… Read more »
