Ah, yes – Advent!

It’s practically here! It’s right around the corner!!

WAIT – Advent is here? It’s right around the corner? Yikes!!

Hey, no worries. We’ll just pull out some paper towel tubes and finger paint and we’ll do this:

What is that? That’s our homemade Advent Calendar. (Well, that’s it before we added the candy!) We did this a few years ago and we’ll do it again this year, too. Why? Because it works!! It’s a great way to plan and stay on top of Advent activities each day. It’s also a great way to field questions from eager children.

“How many days until Christmas?”

“How many days until Christmas?”

“How many days until Christmas?”

Oh – do your kids not do that? Moving on…

For some people, Advent begins the day after Thanksgiving. Others begin 4 Sundays prior to Christmas Day. Some people, like myself, begin Advent the first day of December. I don’t really have a particular reason except that it’s always been our tradition to set up our Christmas tree on December 1st. That, and it’s easy to remember. 😉

Whichever you choose, you can easily adapt the instructions for this craft to fit the number of days that you need. Have fun!

With anticipation,

Amber

Works for me Wednesday is hosted by Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer.

Hey, y’all! I’m Amber and I wear many hats. I drink a ton of coffee and I’m constantly sweeping crumbs off the floor. After 20+ years of homeschooling, we are starting over at preschool with our fourth, Lil Miss Mouse. She keeps us young and she’s the main reason for my excessive coffee consumption. Drink up!
