Me? I was probably kicking and crying a lot. Of course, I don’t remember the day. My mom probably remembers it quite well! π How about it, mom – got a labor story to tell?
No, the earliest memory I have is from the early toddler years, in a two level home, me on the kitchen floor – dumping out the box of cereal to get the prize in the bottom. How old was I there, mom? Three?
So what will we be doing for my birthday today? Well, my family is involved in a local production and tonight is opening night so guess where we’ll be? And since we’ve had late-night rehearsals all week, I pretty much just want to sleep today. =P
However, my kids made some cards for me, and we’ll probably have a get together at my MIL’s house this weekend.
So in the meantime, y’all tell me about YOUR earliest memory. Come, it’ll be fun!
First memory: running into the backdoor of the kitchen, screaming! I had a spider on the front of my striped shirt. About 3 or 4 years old. I STILL wanna scream at spiders! and I once shot a tarantula with the pistol because it was between me and the front door of home….. but I was older than 4 π
Well, 30 years ago I wasn’t but a few months old so not much from me for that age, either. π The earliest memory I have I was 5 years old and my sister and I were playing dress-up in my grandma’s closet full of clothes from the 50’s through the 70’s… but I do think my long term memory is holding on better than my short term… especially with four kiddos! Happy Birthday!!!
Happy Birthday, Amber!
30 years ago I was just a “twinkle in my father’s eye”, I believe is the phrase, since I’m under 20 π
My earliest memory is learning a piano song from my older sister, playing with both thumbs on middle C. I was probably about 6. Long term memory, they say, is the first thing to go π
30 years ago I was 4 years old and now my own daughter is about to turn 5.
I grew up on a dairy farm and one of my earliest memories is probably riding in the feed cart while my dad scooped feed out for the cows.
OK- The day you were born….. and it really was Labor day weekend too! π I was due to delivery 9/11/78. Your grandmother had been down to visit for the weekend and had gone home. I was soooo tired that I decided to go to bed without a shower. (this will be significant later in the story) I was alone because D was working a night shift on base. I woke up to go to the ladies room and realized my water had broken. Not the Hollywood style- no dramatic *GUSH* for me. Nope, I thought I was peeing on… Read more »
Happy Birthday! you still owe us for your raising. SEND MONEY. Love, Dad
Okay, so I just HAD to come back and read what comment I knew mom would leave but dad really cracked me up. Even though I’m sure he’s at least part serious.
And I really feel sorry for mom having to go through the whole c-section like that. I think it’s really weird that they didn’t let her have a shower but they had me up a day later insisting that I have one… So anyways…
i can trace my first memory to when i was 10 months old…. we lived in a trailer in the coutry and my uncle danny (who, apparantly was my favorite person in the world at that time) lived with us. I have one still image memory of laying on the hallway floor looking under the door, trying to find him. π
i have quite a few memories of emptying cereal boxes too..hehe….
(i wasn’t anywhere 30 years ago though…cept maybe playin’ with the cherubs in heaven..lol)
Opa – LOL!
