I don’t think I’ve mentioned what we decided to name our school. Several weeks ago I asked for input and suggestions as we searched for the just the right name. After discussing it as a family, I think we’ve settled on just the right one.

We decided to go with Princess’ suggestion of Faith Family Homeschool. I like this name for at least a couple of reasons.

First, I like that it’s very straight-forward. Academy or Private School doesn’t tell the listener that we school at home – they’d have to ask. I understand why some people would prefer that, but for me, I like Homeschool because it takes the guesswork out of it and saves a few extra questions. Also, “Faith” let’s the listener know that our faith is a part of our education. And I like having “Family” in it because it makes the title more personal, not institutional at all.

The second reason I like the name is because each different part includes an important element about the way we do school. We school in faith, and by faith, as a family, and at home. It’s also a good representation of keeping our priorities straight. =) We school in faith (God first), as a Family (family second), at home (house/housework third.) School is a priority, too, but I guess that’s understood. πŸ™‚

So here we are: Faith Family Homeschool.

***By the way, I’ve been using that free homeschooling software that I mentioned a while back – Homeschool Tracker. The free version includes everything you’ll need to keep records, attendance, print reports and more. It pretty much has everything except for the ability to print a highschool transcript. But they do have a full version that has that, too. I figure for now we’ll use the free one, and at some point later (when finances aren’t as big of an issue) we’ll upgrade to the full version – assuming I’m still using the same software. After all, we won’t need to print transcripts for quite some time!

Hey, y’all! I’m Amber and I wear many hats. I drink a ton of coffee and I’m constantly sweeping crumbs off the floor. After 20+ years of homeschooling, we are starting over at preschool with our fourth, Lil Miss Mouse. She keeps us young and she’s the main reason for my excessive coffee consumption. Drink up!
