As I’ve mentioned, Laura is hosting another organizational challenge, and may I just say: “Yay!” ? I’m so excited to get in on this one and I’ve finally picked which project we are going to do: Our master bedroom!

The challenge may already be in full swing, but I haven’t been completely idle – no, I have a plan! (But you expected that, didn’t you?) ๐Ÿ™‚

My goal: To make our master bedroom “ours” (and not just “mine” or “his) and to make it an appealing retreat for my hubby. I will accomplish this by combining the rich and elegant elements that I crave with the calming and simple elements my husband needs along with great organizational strategies to create and maintain a peaceful haven.

Let’s take a photo tour…

Yikes! Did you see all that stuff?? After assessing the room, it’s problems, it’s advantages and the necessary solutions I have determined that there are four large “problem” challenges to overcome – in addition to a bunch of little ones of course!

  1. Laundry – preventing piles of clothes (clean, dirty or otherwise) from taking over our room by purging and creating a space for dirty laundry.
  2. Bed – taking the bed from eyesore to cozy by using or tossing the current frame and buying or making a new one if necessary, mending the quilt, purchasing pillows for the shams, and purchasing risers for the bed.
  3. Closet – making the most of our closet space by clearing the clutter, organizing the space, and setting up a system
  4. Bathroom – creating additional storage and maximizing the counter space by utilizing wall space.

I’m sure it’s no surprise that I have a very detailed plan of action. As I sat down to brain storm I came up with 5 pages of notes! I have divided the whole project into separate tasks to get it done, and I’ve grouped them together into groups that could be done in one day. Wow, I am a plan freak aren’t I? I’ll enlist help from friends to help paint and from Big Daddy with the power tools and the bed frame but other than that I am on my own.

We’re just nineteen days away from having our finished bedroom!!!

Hey, yโ€™all! Iโ€™m Amber and I wear many hats. I drink a ton of coffee and Iโ€™m constantly sweeping crumbs off the floor. After 20+ years of homeschooling, we are starting over at preschool with our fourth, Lil Miss Mouse. She keeps us young and sheโ€™s the main reason for my excessive coffee consumption. Drink up!
