My letter “S” post isn’t here! Today it’s over AT The Momma Knows. And it’s all about….
SPELLING!
Did you just jump? Get the willies? Are you skeered?
Spelling is another one of those skills that parents often worry about but I’m going to let you in on a little secret..
… well, you’re going to have to click on over to read the rest of it. ;0)

Also, you may have noticed that I didn’t write one for Q. Or R. Or that I have written ANYTHING else for the past two weeks! Well… things have been QUIET. Not that we weren’t busy, in fact we were really busy! You know how the mid-winter slump starts to set in and everything begins to turn ho-hum? The last few weeks, though still technically winter, have brought a small tease of Spring, and it brings with it a QUICKENING in my spirit. Spring is one of my favorite seasons for homeschooling. The weather is great, the flowers bloom, the birds are out. Science and nature activities abound. And with this season of RENEWAL, I also get a renewed pep in my homeschool step, too.. I feel more energetic and committed and ready to get things done. One thing I’m excited about this week is getting back to the habit of READING longer chapter books to the kids a little each day (we haven’t done that in a while.) We’re starting that this week — I’m thinking about Around the World in 80 Days (Junior Edition, Free on Kindle), what do y’all think?
So that’s pretty much all I’ve been up to over here (except for meeting DANA from ROSCOMMON ACRES!! But I’m going to tell you all about THAT in a different post.) 😉
So if you haven’t clicked over to The Momma Knows already to check out the ABC’s of Homeschooling and my guest post.. what are you waiting for? Hop over there now! = )
I was so against spelling after leaving public school teaching, that I really rebelled for awhile with my daughter. Then, I noticed she was struggling to read and write. I thought it might help to include a little bit of spelling curriculum. Wise choice!
Still…we don’t overdue it, and I think we began just when she was really ready for it. So, I think that timing was huge in seeing her progress.
Yes, there definitely needs to be a balance! Thank you!
