Everything we do we tie it back to Jesus.
We try not to focus on the material aspects of Christmas that most people celebrate. We keep presents to a minimum and instead focus on family time.
I try to always remind my children of the importance of the holidays in past and present. I help them to understand how God implements each one into our lives and how we can share that with others!
We do charity work throughout the year to remind ourselves that things can always change.
Whenever we talk about holidays I try to always stop and say, “and what is the real reason we celebrate Christmas?” Then we can talk about how the real reason is celebrating Christ’s birth and the precious gift we have in Him.
well what we do is put our christmas in his hand , and we make it all about the word .
We keep things Christ centered by not including anything santa related and making gifts a small part of the celebration. We celebrate the whole month of Dec.
We try to focus our holidays in reading God’s words and praying to him. We also use the holidays as an outreach opportunity. For example, on Halloween with give out tracts and candy. For Thanksgiving and Christmas, we practice random acts of kindness like baking cookies or making blankets for people and attach information about Jesus and our church to the things we giveaway.
We try to make sure we focus on people, not “things”. We have a few traditions that are meaningful to our family, so those are important as well.
We only give our children 3 gifts each
We live it every day. We talk about Jesus the whole season long, make donations to kids through a giving tree at our mall, etc
We always try to teach that Jesus’s birth is the true meaning of Christmas by creating a Jesse Tree, reading Bible verses, reading advent devotionals, reading many Christian Christmas books, making a birthday cake for Jesus as a family, and by being gift-givers (Operation Christmas Child, World Vision, and homeless bags for San Antonio). Oh . . . the first gift we open on Christmas Day contains a Baby Jesus figurine and I tell the story of His birth. My daughter is still young so it always surprises her even though we do it every year. This giveaway looks amazing.… Read more »
We attend every church service possible, do Advent devotions, and celebrate Jesus’ birthday with cake and celebrating every year.
We always do the salvation army angel tree so that the kiddos can help others celebrate Jesus’s birth.
We bake a birthday cake for Jesus and sing “Happy Birthday” to Him.
We place Nativity Sets in almost every room, talk about Jesus constantly and share crafts with friends (“we” includes parents and now 3 year old!)
we read and watch Christ centered books and videos.
Spending quality time together to focus on the real meaning of the season. Trying not to squeeze everything in, but have time together to reflect on Jesus and what He has done for us.
We do an Advent devotional, lots of Christ-centered music and books, lots of decorations that refer to Christ, and a month long project normally about what God has given us or His attributes or something like that.
