This week is another busy week with an unpredictable schedule so I am going to plan menu options and let the family pick what they want on each day. As always, that’ll be over in my sidebar.
This week I am probably going to go help my mom pack a couple times, we will be participating in 4th of July activities (weather permitting), we might go swim at a friend’s house (weather permitting), and I’m starting a new cleaning plan this week. What’s that you may ask? A very detailed checklist of daily, weekly, and monthly duties organized on each day of the week by frequency and then location that was inspired by the checklists that we had when I worked in fast food during high school and college. My goal is not to be legalistic, but rather to assign each task a time and place so that I only have to worry about what is on my list for today and not about anything else. I have a tendency to make to-do lists that are just too long and I have a tendency to see EVERYTHING that needs to be done in my house and it is overwhelming. My hope is that I can let go of ‘everything else’ because I know that it will come around later in the week. I hope that I can save myself some stress by knowing that if something doesn’t get done today it will come around tomorrow or next week and it can be done then. The good news is that if this works, everything will be kept up enough that it won’t take a lot of time for most things. The bad news is that to get this started, I have a LOT of stuff to do this week. I need to do as much as I can off my daily list each day, and off my weekly list for each day to get the ball rolling– and because things are a little backed up around here it’ll take more time. Still, I’m excited about this plan because I think it just might work. I’ll let you know. 😉
Hop over to Laura’s for more Menu Plan Monday!
I have a similar plan and it works wonderfully. I even sat down and made calendars for each month, scheduling in some of those chores that only need to be done a few times each year. Though I must admit lately, the plan has fallen by the wayside. I need to get back on it, because it really did work well.
yum–great idea to place it in the sidebar!! Have a geat week.
It sounds like a wonderful plan. I do a similar list, doing specific things on certain days (i.e. Friday is laundry day). It does give me a sense of relief to eliminate the guilt of not finishing everything every day. 🙂
I just got a binder for a similar cleaning plan. I realized that the times in life I was most successful were as a teacher and student. During these times, I was organized with binders. I loved your organized rooms. I have been working on my house as well. Hopefully I will have time to post pictures later!
I have a similar cleaning plan. I have a weely schedule for myself, Where I do certain weekly chores, on certain days, and some of those are daily (for example – laundry is every day!). Then I have things that need to be done monthly, so I schedule a day a week to takcle one of the monthly items. Anyway, since we moved, I haven’t really gotten completely back in the swing of my schedule, but I know I need too. A lot of it is just stuck in my mind now, so I do in regularly, but other deep… Read more »
