The first day in pictures:
To say today “went well” would be a lie…
The pictures are misleading.
Today was hard, long, exhausting, painful, nerve-wracking and “take-me-to-the-nuthouse!!” crazy. There were distractions, and issues with not paying attention or following directions, problems with butting in on each other’s work, you name it. We’ve been out of session for over a month, so we’re gonna have to get in our groove.
To make it *even better*.. I was suffering from a sensory overload day and my 5 year old sensory seeking child Would. Not. Sit. Still. Not for a minute. She was wiggling, and sliding, and bouncing, and tapping her pencil, and rustling her papers, and spinning her pencil, and humming a tune, and getting up and getting down, and… that enough? Imagine what it was like for FOUR HOURS.
“My nerves are shot – this is a catastrophe!” (Name that movie.)
But we survived. Mostly. I think I lost a few more brain cells.
But tomorrow is a new day, right?
“Of course, right.” (Name THAT movie.)
SO…my fellow homeschoolers: Proof positive that planning isn’t everything. After all, there are some things you can’t plan for!! 😉
Sorry your first day was so tough! I know it will get better though once you guys get back into the swing of things!
That’s okay, it wasn’t THAT bad.
Ok, yes, it was. But bad days happen. I’m not letting it deter me in the least bit! =)
Ummm…. don’t know the first movie but I think the second one is Emperor’s New Groove… 🙂
And not like you didn’t know this but every family has getting back to school issues no matter where they go to school. I personally like having the option to send my children for a nap if needed unlike other teachers 😀

That is a really good job. I have posters up in our dinning room to it just works better for the boys.
