Sometimes it happens that I suddenly go a couple or three weeks without having anything to say. Not that there isn’t anything I could write about, but I just go days or weeks without the words to write.

And now I actually have quite a LOT to say, but you don’t come here to read my entire life story, do you? 😉

However, there ARE some things that I really want to share with you. =)

School:

School has been going well for the past two weeks and this week we’re on a break. Good news on the math front, Catie is still enjoying her Life of Fred for Pre-Algebra, and Arielle has switched to Life of Fred, too (starting the intermediate series.) We like Fred.

In other news, we have been enjoying our Swan Lake CD from Maestro Classics (review and giveaway coming soon,) and we’ve decided that Swan Lake (or probably any Tchaikovsky really) is good music to listen to while cleaning. =)

Blog:

Since I haven’t been writing, I’ve been working on the blog behind the scenes, updating pages and the sidebar and that sort of thing. I’m also getting ready for the next Mommy Time Party — on November 5th! I can’t believe it’s here so quickly. I’ll be talking about Christ-Centered Holidays, and Celebrating Throughout the Year, and I’ll be giving away some good books and resources to help you with that. Save the date!

Also, I have been enjoying some fun science books that DK sent us a while back – DK books are so fun! And they are letting me give some away! I’m going to have something of a giveaway spree over the next month. =) These, the Mommy Time Giveaways, then later the Maestro Classics and last but not least, I have a fun review and giveaway of the new Big Picture Interactive Bible Storybook (it’s pretty cool!)

I don’t normally plan that much all at once, it will be a fun month!

Life:

Oh my goodness what a past few weeks! We’ve found a good rhythm with housework and school work (amazingly!) and part of that has been helped by the kids desire to finish their school and chores quickly so they can play Minecraft. (Whatever it takes right?) More exciting than that, over the weekend we got a new (to us) vehicle – a 2009 Kia Sedona, and Monday we got a puppy! (More on those, later.) The kids are beside themselves with glee. (So much for our good routine with chores huh?) 😉

The only shadow on our week has been the health of my husband’s grandfather, who has been steadily declining. And it really looks like we’ll be breaking in our new van with a road trip sometime in the next few days to attend a funeral and spend time with his family. It’s been a very hard week for James’ family. We would definitely appreciate your prayers.

THREE More Things:

Teach Them Diligently Homeschool Convention 2014 Dallas Registration is open for Teach Them Diligently Homeschool Convention! I’ll be going to TTD in Dallas in June. (Register now for early bird pricing.) I’m going because not only are there great vendors in the vendor hall, but the sessions are amazing. real refresh 14 Early Bird Registration is ALSO open for the Apologia Real Refreshment Retreat! I really want to go to this again, maybe in Atlanta this time. I hate flying, (hate hate hate) but I want to go anyway. The encouragement and fellowship you get through the retreat is such a wonderful experience!

And one more (what — is there such a thing as TOO much encouragement? I don’t think so!) Have you heard of the Homeschool Mom’s Winter Summit? There’s one in TX and one in OK. I’m thinking about trying to attend this one, too.

Phew! So what have you been up to?

Hey, y’all! I’m Amber and I wear many hats. I drink a ton of coffee and I’m constantly sweeping crumbs off the floor. After 18 years of homeschooling, I’m getting close to graduating my third child and now we are starting over at preschool with our fourth, Lil Miss Mouse. She keeps us young and she’s the main reason for my excessive coffee consumption. Drink up!
